We were called in to take a look at a very unstable suspended timber floor. There was red powder all over the skirting board and nearby furniture, instantly recognisable as dry rot. We went about treating the rot with injection and surface spray, whilst eliminating the rotten timbers and the water source. We also injected a new damp proof course (DPC) and rendered the walls. A new floor was installed with treated timber and an air vent positioned into the centre of the stack. This is when we decided to investigate the chance that the fireplace was bricked up and behind it would be a great space that could be turned into a feature. We were right!
